Climb aboard for this unique adventure in a open-air, four wheel drive jeep! Travel through Roseau, the capital of Dominica, before continuing on to some of the most famous natural beauties on the island including Ti Tou Gorge and Wotten Waven Sulphur Springs. Whilst driving to the last stop of the day, take in the majestic views of our second tallest mountain on island Morne Trois Pitons which stands at 4550ft. It was the first UNESCO Heritage Site established in the Caribbean, earing such prestige because within the park boundaries lie the World's second largest boiling lake, The Boiling Lake.
20 min - Pass through the lush but quaint mountain community of Wotten Waven, dubbed the health and wellness capital on island because of the numerous fumarole vents found in that area. You will have the opportunity to visit one of these vents and get an up close and personal view and whiff.
10 min - Take a leisurely guided walk through the Botanic Gardens grounds, visiting the National bird the Sisserou Parrot and a few plants of interest
10 min - Bask in the spectacular aerial view of the capital after a short guided tour of the grounds. Enjoy the rear photo opportunity to snap a picture with the capital city AND your ship in the background!
45 min - Enter the refreshing waters of Ti Tou Gorge which flows from the Freshwater Lake, suited with your life belts and await your guides' instruction. The Gorge is approximately 15-25ft deep and it is an approximate 3 minute swim upstream to a small waterfall. You will have a short rest stop on a natural water carved ledge whilst your guide narrates the scene that was filmed within the Gorge for Pirates of the Caribbean II. Upon your guides' queue you will swim further up into the Gorge and get a chance to climb out of the water and jump back into the deepest part and proceed to swim out. Once out and dried, return to your truck for a sampling of the BEST rum punch on island, water and soda are also available.
This excursion ( Wacky Rollers 4WD Safari, Gardens & Titou Gorge) took us to a beautiful botanical garden, high into the rain forest and then a cave swim and waterfall. One word sums up this tour "AWESOME". Our guide "Maria" (as he was called by his cousin as we passed him on the street) knowledge about the island and it's culture was very indepth. He was alot of fun and a highlight of the tour. Our driver was very skilled navigationg the tight narrow roads. We learned alot and it was topped off with a very refreshing cave swim to a waterfall in Titou Gorge. My wife and I are active seniors and loved every minute. All on our tour where sorry to see it end. We highly recomment this tour with Wacky Rollers.
We booked this tour through our cruise ship. They took us all over the island, botanical gardens, gave us the history of the island took us through the rainforest (where we got drenched by a pop up rain storm) but they had ponchos for us. We stopped at sulpher hot springs and they gave us water, rum punch and locally homemade raisin muffins. Then we went to Ti Tou gorge and swam up the river to the waterfall inside. Lloyd was the best tour guide of any we’ve had on any tour of any island in the Caribbean.
My mother & I went on a Wacky Rollers half day tour as a cruise excursion. After being told there “wasn’t much to do” in Dominica, we weren’t expecting much... This had to be one of our top excursions for the whole trip. Not only were the sights incredible, but our particular hosts were amazing and full of knowledge. Very helpful & patient whilst off the truck exploring the stops. I can’t remember his name, something with a ‘T’ I think (he’s pictured), was very good so shout out to him! The route is pretty much all rainforest, so do not be surprised when the heavens open! It’s actually really rather refreshing and adds to the experience. Would 100% love to go again, and would definitely recommend to everyone!
One of our favorite excursions of all time. The island is absolutely beautiful! Mountains and volcanoes and the rain forest was something to behold. It is a very winding road but the driver was great. The scenery going up was fabulous and we stopped at warm spring on the way up. It was interesting as we went further up in elevation, the change in temperature. It is capped off at the top of the mountain, with a swim in a cave with waterfalls. The water is cold but it is so beautiful inside. The Pirates of the Caribbean #2 was filmed inside the cave! Our tour guide, Hodge, was the best, most knowledgeable, tour guide and gave us a great tour of the landscape and history of the Island. He was very personable, intelligent, and a great ambassador for the Island. My whole family had a fabulous time and would recommend this trip to anyone. Our 3 kids are teenagers and they loved it as well. If you are in Dominica, this is a great trip!
Siobhan was very entertaining and did her best to keep us up beat when it rained at the beginning of our tour. Beautiful location hubby enjoyed the waterfall swim. A fun experience. Thanks
